I picked up some strawberries last week when they were on sale, but was so busy I kept forgetting to eat them. They were almost on their last leg, so I decided to use them up before they spoiled. Here's my impromptu version of strawberry shortcake:
Wash the strawberries thoroughly.
Next them all in half and put them in a saucepan with 1/3 cup of white sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla:
Cook them over medium heat for about 15 minutes, until they are syrupy:
Serve over ready made pound cake with whipped cream. YUM!
